Brian and Jen - Wedding brochure website

Two very close friends asked if I would mind building them a website for their wedding. Of course I was happy to oblige. Jen had sent through some images with a notion of a theme along with some ideas of the type of content she wanted to display. Having known them for a while now, it was possible to read between the lines and decide on a theme for the site.

I worked closely with Jen on the visual style of the site through an iterative process until she felt it was in a good place to build. This was a fairly short process and had a tight turn around.

First pass of design - the landing page

Project summary

Branding

The branding was intentionally minimal and chic. They wanted the site to feel rustic and elegant. I used "Special elite" as a typewriter print style, along with "GreatVibes" as a handwritten font for online use. the combination I felt helped provide key accents to headings and worked nicely

Design & build

The site needed to work on desktop and mobile, so naturally I took a standard bootstrap 4 approach. Many of the styles in the bootstrap SASS files were not required. I pulled it apart and only used the components that were required. The visual style and content lead the use of components. Basic typographic elements, colours and iconography were setup as the base, and from their minor adjustments were made to existing components.

Fully Responsive Website

Many of the guests would be travelling from far away. It was important that users would be able to find information about local accommodation, make bookings and respond to Brian and Jen using an RSVP form. They would also need to be able to locate the venue using mobile devices on the day using google maps.

Prototype

Marvel was used to showcase some of the designs easily. This was built to demonstrate some of the components and to have the general conversations around their likes and dislikes. They opted for version 1 of the landing page https://marvelapp.com/383di56/screen/33284395
